For Referring Veterinarians
True North accepts referrals from general practitioners throughout Manitoba and beyond. Your clients remain your clients - we keep you fully informed at every step.
When to refer
Behaviour has not responded to initial management or training recommendations
Aggression poses a safety concern requiring specialist assessment
Anxiety, fear, or compulsive disorder is suspected
Pharmacological management requires specialist oversight
The case needs more dedicated support than a general appointment allows
How to refer
01 Submit the online referral form
Takes approximately 5 minutes. Include the client's contact information, the pet's signalment, and a brief description of the presenting concern. You can also attach the patient’s up-to-date medical records at this step. Additionally, you can direct your client to the For Pet Parents page to schedule directly.
02 We contact your client
We reach out directly to schedule the appointment and send the intake package. If not already received, we will reach to you to obtain the patient’s medical records.
03 You receive the visit summary after the initial appointment
After the consultation (in-person or via telemedicine for eligible clients), A full written report, including diagnosis(es), behaviour observations, treatment recommendations, and any medications prescribed, is sent to you after each appointment.
04 Ongoing communication
Available by email for follow-up questions. Quick general behaviour questions can be directed to hello@truenorthbehaviour.com no charge.
